TRIP THROUGH THE BIBLE

September 25, 2007

TRIP THROUGH THE BIBLE Tell the group that, we are taking a trip through the Bible but will never leave our seats. Begin by saying “I took a trip through the Bible and found “Abraham”. The next student will repeat what you said and then add something they found that begins with the next letter in the alphabet and so on. So the second person will say “I took a trip through the Bible and found Abraham and Benjamin”. The next person will say “I took a trip through the Bible and found Abraham, Benjamin and Canaan”. Play continues for the whole alphabet. If you have more than 26 people in your group, you may start from alphabet A when you’ve gotten to Z and continue. Labels: Games

SURVIVOR SCAVENGER HUNT

September 25, 2007

Each team will need their own set of eight colored cards. Print the following lines of the Bible verse from Daniel onto each of the cards. One line per card. Laminate the cards for durability especially if you will want to use it again.

* But Daniel purposed in his heart

* that he would not defile himself

* with the portion of the king’s meat,

* nor with the wine which he drank:

* therefore he requested of

* the prince of the eunuchs

* that he might not defile himself.
* (Daniel 1:8)

Establish a large playing area, preferably outside. We played it last year in a children park and it was fun. Hide the cards, and divide players into teams.
At the go, have the players hunt for their teams’ eight colored cards. Once they’ve found all eight cards, have them arrange the cards into the proper order. The first team to place the cards into the proper order and read the verse loud wins.

PASS IT ON

September 25, 2007

Each team will need:10 tennis balls, a bag to hold the tennis balls, and a spoon for each player.
Set Up: Write one letter from the phrase “Jesus Saves” on each of the team’s tennis balls (one letter per ball). Team lines stand shoulder to shoulder, approximately two feet apart. Team lines stand parallel to one another. Place the bag of balls at one end of each team line.

How To Play: Before you begin, tell the players the game they’re about to play is called “Pass It On”. The object of the game is to pass the balls from the box to the end of the team lines, then assemble the balls to form a two word phrase. (show a ball with a letter on it) The clue for solving the phrase is something Christians should want to pass on to others.

At the go, the first person in each team scoops a ball onto his or her spoon and passes it on to the next player in line. The next player receives the ball with his or her spoon and passes it on to the next player in line, who passes it to the next player, and the next, and so on until the ball reaches the end of the line. The last player in line lays the ball down on the floor next to his or her feet. As soon as the first ball is passed on to the second player in line, the first player in line may scoop up a second ball from the box and begin to pass it down the line to the end player. When all the balls are passed down the line, each team must try to assemble the letters to form the two word secret phrase written on the balls: J-E-S-U-S S-A-V-E-S. The first team to arrange and proclaim the secret phrase, wins!

RESIST THE DEVIL

September 25, 2007

How To Play:All players form one circle – facing the center. Teacher assigns one player to be the “enemy” and is given a soft object like ball or teddy bear.The enemy walks or runs around the outside of the circle, behind the other players and drops the object behind one of them. This player now quickly goes to the center of the circle with the object while the enemy tries to run around the circle and into the center through the space left open by the player who is now standing in the center of the circle. While the enemy is running around the circle, the player in the middle tosses the object to another player that is in the circle. After catching the object, this player can now run through the center of the circle to fill in the gap left by the first player – and the 1st player fills in the gap of the one that caught the object. The two players are switching places that they originally held in the circle. If both of the gaps are filled in by the players by the time the enemy gets to the first gap, the enemy is considered defeated because he/she was unable to enter into the circle. If the enemy does make it through the gap – he/she chooses another player to take his place as the enemy. Play continues as long as time allows.

HEAR NO EVIL

September 25, 2007

Impact: It is very important that we are aware that God is constantly speaking to us and wanting to give us guidance. It is also very important that we know that Satan is vying for our attention as well. This game will reinforce the need of the Christian to strive to hear God’s voice. We must also know that we can only recognize Gods voice by knowing his WORD! “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27 You’ll need a Bucket or Box large enough to hold a ball (The Target),1 Ball,1 Blind fold, 4 Players to Start, 4 Index Cards with individual instructions from below (to be read or informed silently before playing). If equipment is available, game can be played at multiple stations with more than four players at a time.

On the index cards write:
Player 1: God
– As God you need to stand in a location that is near the basket (target). Remain calm and collected through the game. Your object is to calmly give instructions to The Christian on how to get the ball in the basket. Don’t harass The Christian. Always speak calmly yet persistently.

Player 2: Satan – As Satan your object is to tell The Christian what to do. You don’t want The Christian to hit the Target. You are a very high-pressure player. Run in circles frantically around The Christian. Be very persuasive about him/her following your set of instructions. You don’t want The Christian to get even near the target.

Player 3: The Christian – As The Christian your job is to listen and follow instructions that are being given. You’ll have to make choices to hit the target! Put on your blind fold.

Player 4: The Holy Spirit – As The Holy Spirit you need to stand right next to The Christian and always have your hand on his/her shoulder. You need to find out before the game starts who is playing the role of God. When The Christian follows Gods instructions, move him/her one step closer to the basket. When The Christian follows Satan’s instructions, give him a good pinch in the side. say nothing…you’re a silent player.

How To Play: The Christian takes mark at a starting point. The bucket (target) is placed 20-25ft. away – the further the better. He/she is given a ball which will represent his/her faith. “God” stands afar and speaks in a calm and collected voice. Meanwhile, “Satan” stands close by and speaks very urgently and persuasively to the “Christian”. The “Holy Spirit” stands near to the “Christian” and always has a hand on the “Christian’s” shoulder.The Christian’s goal is to get the ball in the basket. Satan’s goal is to persuade the Christian that his instructions for making the basket are good. God and Satan are simultaneously giving the Christian instructions. Every time The Christian follows Satan, the Holy Spirit should gently pinch the Christian. When the Christian follows God the Holy Spirit should move the Christian one step closer to the target until the connection is made of which voice to listen to. The game is won when the Christian makes the ball in the basket. The leader of the game should retrieve the ball and give it back to the Christian after each toss.
Hints Before Playing1) Don’t allow the Christian to see the bucket (target) location before he/she is blindfolded. The more space you have the better. 2) Tell Satan to move around the Christian, be very persuasive, speak into the Christian’s ear, tell the Christian not to listen to the other voice.3) Only the Holy Spirit, God, and Satan should know who the other characters are, not the Christian!
